EFFECTIVENESS OF THE REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION APPROACH TO THE ABILITY TO SOLVE MATHEMATICAL PROBLEMS
The purpose of this study is to find out how effective the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach is. The research method used in this study is the experimental method. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling technique. The instrument for collecting data in this study is an essay test consisting of 8 items. The data analysis technique used is the t-test, and based on the t-test calculation shows t-count = 10,098 and t-table = 2,002 at the significant level of 5% or ( = 0,05) and the degree of freedom (dk = 58) which means t-count t table (10,098 2,002) then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The conclusion is that the average mathematical problem solving ability of students given the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach is higher than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who are given an expository approach. And the effectiveness calculation for the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach is quite high, which is 2,605. Thus, there is an influence and effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in the teaching and learning process

PEMBELAJARAN DENGAN PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KONEKSI DAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS : Studi Kuasi Ekperimen di Kelas V Sekolah Dasar Kecamatan Lemahabang
Di dalam proses pembelajaran siswa merasa kesulitan dalam hal menyelesaikan soal non rutin, kesulitan dalam hal melakukan koneksi antar topik dalam matematika, sering gagal untuk melihat kegunaan matematika di luar kelas, dan mereka tidak secara teratur membuat hubungan antara matematika dan bidang lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan koneksi dan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dengan siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena di dalam peneltian terdahulu belum ada yang meneliti tentang penggunaan pendekatan RME terhadap kemampuan koneksi dan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SD. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian eksperimen semu. Adapun teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara signifikan (1) pencapaian kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan RME lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran konvensional; (2) peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan RME lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran konvensional; (3) pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan RME lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran konvensional; dan (4) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan RME lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran konvensional.

During the teaching and learning process, students often encounter difficulties in solving non-routine problems and making connections among topics in mathematics, fail in understanding the use of mathematics outside the classroom, and make irregular connections between mathematics and other fields of study. The research aims to compare the achievements and improvements in mathematical connection and problem solving skills between students who are taught with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and those with conventional instruction. It was conducted because there has been no research on the use of RME in improving elementary school students’ mathematical connection and problem solving skills. The research employed quasi-experimental research design. Sample was taken with purposive sampling technique. The results showed that (1) The achievements in mathematical connection skills of students using RME approach were significantly greater than those with conventional learning; (2) The improvements of mathematical connection skills of students using RME approach were greater than the improvements of the students with conventional learning; (3) The achievements in mathematical problem solving skills of students using RME approach were greater than those using the conventional learning; and (4) The improvements in mathematical problem solving skills of students using RME approach were greater than those with conventional learning.

Pengaruh Pendekatan Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) Terhadap Hasil Belajar Ditinjau Dari Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa Menggunakan Langkah Polya
The aim of this research are to examine and analyze: (1) the influence of Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) learning approach on learning mathematics outcomes. (2) the influence of students’ mathematical problem solving abilities using the Polya steps on learning mathematics outcomes. (3) the existence of interaction between Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) and students’ mathematical problem solving abilities using the Polya steps on learning mathematics outcomes. This type of research is quantitative with posttest only control design. The population of this research is all students seven grade junior high school students of SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura academic year 2019/2020. The research sample used two classes, the first class using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning approach and the second class using conventional learning approach. The sampling in this study used cluster random sampling technique. The data collection using test and documentation methods. The research using two path variance analysis techniques with unequal cells. With a significance level of 5%. The result of the study were obtained: (1) there is not influence of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) learning approach on mathematics learning outcomes. (2) there is influence of students’ mathematical problem solving abilities using Polya step on mathematics learning outcomes. (3) there is no interaction between the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) learning approaches and students’ mathematical problem solving abilities using the Polya step towards mathematics learning outcomes
PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (RME) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS PADA SOAL CERITA DI SD : Penelitian Tindakan Kelas di kelas IV pada salah satu SD di Kota Bandung
Penelitian ini terfokus pada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SD yang masih rendah. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah adalah salah satu kemampuan matematis yang harus dimiliki siswa setelah proses pembelajaran matematika. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa adalah pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Pendekatan ini merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat merubah pembelajaran matematika menjadi pembelajaran yang real. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan bagaimana rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan RME; (2) mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan RME; dan (3) mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah diterapkan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan RME. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV di SDN S Kota Bandung. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang diadaptasi dari model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Pengolahan dan analisis data kualitatif menggunakan Model Miles and Huberman sedangkan untuk data kuantitatif dibantu dengan microsoft excel 2010. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) perencanaan pembelajaran disusun mengacu pada PP No.19 Tahun 2005 Pasal 20, namun kegiatan intinya mengikuti karakteristik RME; (2) pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan RME menjadi lebih baik; (3) dengan menerapkan pendekatan RME kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa mengalami peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I sebesar 62%, siklus II 72%, dan siklus III 88,9%. Oleh karena itu pendekatan RME terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas IV di SDN S pada soal cerita.

This study focuses on the low ability of elementary students’ mathematical problem solving. The ability of solving problem is one of mathematical abilities that should be had by students after mathematics teaching process. One of the education approaches which are able to improve elementary students’ mathematical problem solving is Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This approach is an education approach which is able to change mathematics education to be a real education. This study is aimed to: (1) know how the education implementation using RME approach is planned (2) know the implementation of education using RME approach and (3) know the improvements of students’ mathematical problem solving after the application of RME approach. The participants involved in this study are the students of the 4th grade in SDS Kota Bandung. The study design used is classroom action research adapting Kemmis and Mc.Taggart’s model. The instrument used is students’ mathematical problem solving test. The tabulation and analysis of qualitative data used Miles and Huberman’s model, while the quantitative data is assisted by Microsoft excel 2010. The result of the study shows the indication of improvements in each cycle. The conclusion of the study shows that: (1) the education planning has improved after the application of RME approach; (2) education using RME approach have improved better; (3) by using RME approach, the ability of students’ mathematical problem solving have showed some improvements in each cycle. In each cycle, cycle 1 has reached 62 %, cycle II 72%, and cycle III 88,9%. Therefore, the RME approach has been proved effective in improving the SDS’s 4th grade students’ mathematical problem solving in essay test.

EFEKTIVITAS PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (RME) BERBANTUAN APLIKASI EDMODO TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA
Kemampuan pemecahan masalah khususnya dalam pelajaran matematika sangat diperlukan oleh siswa. Kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa masih rendah. Upaya untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut salah satunya dengan menerapkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) berbantuan Aplikasi Edmodo. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui efektif atau tidaknya penggunaan pendekatan Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) berbantuan aplikasi Edmodo terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada materi barisan dan deret aritmatika di kelas X SMK Negeri 1 Sindang. Jenis metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen, dengan uji normalitas dan uji t-satu sampel. Tempat pengujian dilakukan di SMK Negeri 1 Sindang. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Cluster Random Sampling dengan cara pengundian, sehingga diperoleh sampel dari penelitian ini adalah kelas X TKJ 2. Setelah siswa melakukan proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) berbantuan Aplikasi Edmodo diperoleh hasil belajar terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan skor maksimum 92 dan skor minimum 0 dengan rerata skor 53,83. Karena t hitung = 3,13 lebih besar dari t tabel = 1,69 maka tolak , artinya penggunaan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) berbantuan Aplikasi Edmodo efektif untuk mencapai target kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi barisan dan deret aritmatika. The ability to solve problems, especially in mathematics, is needed by students. The reality in the field shows that the students' mathematical problem solving abilities are still low. One of the efforts to overcome this problem is by applying the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach with the aid of Edmodo application. The research objective was to determine whether or not the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach was used with the aid of Edmodo application on problem-solving abilities in the arithmetic sequence and series material in class X SMK Negeri 1 Sindang. The type of research method used is the experimental method, with normality test and one-sample t-test. The test site was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Sindang. Sampling was done by using the Cluster Random Sampling technique by drawing, so that the sample from this study was class X TKJ 2. After the students carried out the learning process by applying the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by Edmodo application, the learning outcomes of students' mathematical problem solving abilities were obtained. with a maximum score of 92 and a minimum score of 0 with an average score of 53.83. Because t count = 3.13 is greater than t table = 1.69 then reject, meaning that the use of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by Edmodo application is effective in achieving the target of students' mathematical problem solving abilities in arithmetic sequences and series material
The Effect of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) Learning Model On Students’ Mathematical Problem Solving Abilities : A Meta-Analysis
Abstract: Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning is a learning approach that uses contextual issues and student-focused learning. This study aims to find out the huge influence of the Realistic Mathematics education learning model on students' mathematical problem-solving skills. The research method used is a meta-analysis with the help of JASP software by collecting data from the results of research indexed indexer databases such as Google Scholar, SINTA, and Garuda Portal. The data were taken in accordance with the criteria of inclusion and exclusion of this study to then be determined by the value of effect size (ES) and standard error (SE). The results of the data analysis using JASP software showed that realistic mathematics education (RME) learning model on mathematical problem-solving skills of students as a whole has a positive influence which is obtained by estimation (ES) of 0.71 or 71% based on RE Models with high category, as well as the p-value (egger's test) of 0.121 which means no publication is indicated bias, as well as the results of moderator variable analysis on classification per education level. This means that realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model for students' mathematical problem-solving skills can be said to be appropriate if used for students, especially in junior high and elementary school level.Abstrak: Pembelajaran Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) ini merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran yang menggunakan masalah kontekstual, dan pembelajaran terfokus pada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besar pengaruh model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematic education terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah meta-analisis dengan bantuan software JASP yaitu dengan cara mengumpulkan data dari hasil-hasil penelitian yang terindeks database pengindeks seperti Google Scholar, SINTA, dan Portal Garuda. Data yang diambil sesuai kriteria inklusi dan ekslusi penelitian ini untuk kemudian ditentukan nilai effect size (ES) dan standard error (SE). Hasil analisis data menggunakan software JASP menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap Kemampun Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa secara keseluruhan pengaruhnya positif yang dimana di dapatan nilai Estimasi (ES) sebesar 0.71 atau 71% berdasarkan RE Models dengan kategori tinggi, serta nilai p-value (egger’s test) sebesar 0.121 yang berarti tidak terindikasi publication bias,begitu juga dengan hasil analisis variabel moderator pada klasifikasi per jenjang pendidikan. Ini berarti model pembelajaran Realistic Mahematics Education (RME) terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah matematis Siswa bisa dikatakan sudah tepat jika digunakan untuk Peserta didik terutama pada jenjang SMP dan SD.           Â
PENGARUH PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS DAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SEKOLAH DASAR
Kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan kemampuan yang sangat penting yang harus dimiliki siswa Sekolah Dasar. Hal ini akan membantu dalam mengembangkan potensi dirinya, dengan menitikberatkan pada kemampuan dalam berpikir dan bertindak secara normatif, dan siap bernalar dari apa yang dilihat maupun didengar sehingga dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan yang dihadapinya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, oleh karena itu peranan guru sebagai tenaga pendidik secara professional menjadi penentu dalam menjembatani siswa melalui pembelajaran yang berkualitas. Namun kenyataannya berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran matematika di SD proses pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan belum memberikan kesempatan siswa dalam menggali potensi dirinya dalam berpikir kritis dan menyelesaikan permasalahan. Sehingga perlu dicari alternatif pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education merupakan salah satu alternatif yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dalam pembelajaran matematika di Sekolah Dasar.

Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes berbentuk uraian dan lembar observasi selama proses pembelajaran. Untuk pengolahan data digunakan program SPSS versi 20.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian berupa skor N-gain dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji t-tes. Hasil penelitian yang dianalisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang belajar melalui pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dengan yang menggunakan pembelajaran biasa. Jadi dapat disimpulkan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dengan menggunakan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) lebih baik dari siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran biasa ---------- Critical thinking skills and mathematical problem solving ability is a very important capability that should be owned by elementary school students. These abilities would help students to improve their potential, with concern on the ability to think and act as normative, and ready to have a reason of what is seen and heard so that they can solve their problems in daily life, therefore the role of the teacher as professional educators be decisive in bridging the students through quality learning. Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis dan Self-Efficacy Siswa MTs Melalui Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik
The purposes of this research is to the differences in mathematical problem-solving skills enhancement and self-efficacy among students who had learned Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and students who received conventional instructions. Reseach use quasi-experimental was used pre-test research design posttest control group design. The experimental group was treated using RME  approach while the control group gain use conventional approach. To gather the instrument is the form of mathematical problem solving ability test, and a questionnaire to determine students' self-efficacy toward mathematics. This research was conducted at Secondary Islamic School . The population is  grade VIII students MTsN Model Banda Aceh inl year 2012/2013. The samples were  two classes, VIII-7, class as the experimental class and the control class VIII-6, by purposive sampling technique. The researc found that studens mathematical problem-solving ability which were taken by with RME approach better than conventional approaches. Based on the analysis of self-efficacy RME class increases more than the self-efficacy of students who received conventional learning. Furthermore there a relationship between the ability of solving mathematical problems with self-efficacy of students in the experimental class and control with very low qualifications.         Â

This research aims to determine whether Realistic Mathematics Education approach can improve the ability of critical thinking and mathematical problem solving ability in mathematics in elementary school.
This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a control group of non-Equivalent. Samples were fourth grade students in one elementary school in Garut. Data collected by the description and the sheet-shaped test observations during the learning process. For data processing used SPSS version 20.
Based on the results of research in the form of N-gain scores were analyzed using t-test, which analyzed research results show that there are increasing in the ability of critical thinking and problem solving skills are learned through mathematical approach Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with the use of regular learning.
