In particular, this paper examines The Hothouse, a play Pinter shelved for several decades due to its highly overt comedy. The paper uses close readings from The Hothouse and a number of other plays (including The Birthday Party, One for the Road, and Celebration) and directorial insights from a February 2011 production of The Hothouse in Oberlin College\u27s Little Theater
