    Relaxation of transport properties in electron doped SrTiO3

    Full text link
    We electron-dope single crystal samples of SrTiO_3 by exposing them to Ar^+ irradiation and observe carrier mobility similar in its magnitude and temperature dependence to the carrier mobility in other electron-doped SrTiO3 systems. We find that some transport properties are time-dependent. In particular, the sheet resistance increases with time at a temperature-dependent rate, suggesting an activation barrier on the order of 1 eV. We attribute the relaxation effects to diffusion of oxygen vacancies - a process with energy barrier similar to the observed activation energy

    ExoMol line lists – XLVIII. High-temperature line list of thioformaldehyde (H2CS)

    Get PDF
    A comprehensive rotation-vibration (ro-vibrational) line list of thioformaldehyde (1H212C32S) that is applicable for elevated temperatures (2000K) is presented. The new MOTY line list covers the 0 to 8000 cm−1 range (wavelengths λ > 1.3μm and contains around 43.5billion transitions between 52.3million states with rotational excitation up to J = 120. Line list calculations utilise a newly determined empirically refined potential energy surface (PES) – the most accurate H2CS PES to date – a previously published high-level ab initio dipole moment surface, and the use of an exact kinetic energy operator for solving the ro-vibrational Schrödinger equation. Post-processing of the MOTY line list is performed by replacing calculated energy levels with empirically-derived values, vastly improving the accuracy of predicted line positions in certain spectral windows and making the line list suitable for high-resolution applications. The MOTY line list is available from the ExoMol database at www.exomol.com and the CDS astronomical database

    Interplay between sheet resistance increase and magnetotransport properties in LaAlO3/SrTiO3{\rm LaAlO_3}/{\rm SrTiO_3}

    Full text link
    We find that the sheet resistance (RsR_s) of patterned samples of LaAlO3/SrTiO3{\rm LaAlO_3}/{\rm SrTiO_3} with a length scale of several microns may increase significantly at low temperatures in connection with driving electrical currents and applying in-plane magnetic fields. As the samples are warmed up, RsR_s recovers to its original value with accelerated recovery near ${\rm 70 \ K}and and {\rm 160 \ K}.Concomitantlywiththeincreasein. Concomitantly with the increase in R_s$, the carrier density and the mobility decrease and magnetotransport properties which may be linked to magnetism are suppressed.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure

    The Effects Of Motility And Chemotaxis On Vibrio Cholerae Colonization In Zebrafish

    Get PDF
    Vibrio cholerae, the cause of the diarrheal disease cholera, is a gram-negative, curved rod-shaped bacterium, with a single polar flagellum. V. cholerae is naturally found in aquatic environments and is highly motile. When it enters a human host, V. cholerae uses flagellar motility to pass through the stomach and into the small intestine. Once in the small intestine, motility genes are downregulated and virulence gene expression is upregulated. V. cholerae motility and chemotaxis effects have not yet been studied in a zebrafish model, a natural host of this bacterium. We hypothesize that V. cholerae in frame deletions of vital motility and chemotaxis proteins, such as flaA, cheY-3, and motY, would decrease the ability of V. cholerae to colonize the zebrafish intestine. However, the deletion of chemotaxis gene cheY-3 actually significantly increases the ability of V. cholerae to colonize the zebrafish intestine, and only the deletion of motility gene motY significantly decreases colonization compared to wild-type

    Creating a wellness program for hotel front desk employees

    Full text link
    The majority of hotel front desk employees fulfill their job demands in generally similar ways, in terms of workplace conditions. The demanding and hectic nature of this job results in very tangle physical and emotional effects on the employee. Through an analysis of current literature, guidelines on implementing a wellness program suited specifically for hotel front desk employees will be created. Through successful implementation of an employee wellness program, management will be able to provide effective job resources that will result in engaged front desk employees, and consequently, higher levels of customer service, productivity, and profitability
