Management Matters
New indications of managerial innovations are created and then used to show that changes in organizational technologies are an important source of economic growth. Specifically, the analysis demonstrates that, first, in response to a positive managerial technology shock, output, productivity and hours significantly increase in the short run, second, these types of innovations are as important as non-managerial ones in explaining movements in these variables at business cycle frequencies, and, third, product and process innovations promote the development of new managerial techniques.Business Cycles; Productivity; Management techniques; Technical Change

Tautologies, models and theories--can we find "laws" of manufacturing?
"This is a revised version of Little (1992) in Manufacturing Systems: Foundations of World-Class Practice, J.A. Heim and W.D. Compton, eds."Are there "laws" of manufacturing? If so, what do they look like? If not, what other forms of knowledge might comprise intellectual foundations for a discipline of manufacturing? We differentiate among mathematical tautologies, laws, models, and theories, giving examples of each. Laws closely analogous to those of nineteenth century physics appear to be unlikely but empirical models offer the prospect of building new understanding of manufacturing, even if they may lack the precision of their classical counterparts. Descriptive models serving scientific goals tend to differ from prescriptive models for problem-solving. The latter must be complete enough to solve the practical problem at hand and yet be selective in their detail so as not to paralyze problem-solving with irrelevant complication. A growing collection of parsimonious models and theories can form a basis for the design, analysis and control of complex manufacturing systems
Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication (AgLEC) Collection Development Policy
The ALEC collection supports the teaching, research and service activities of the entire university community. Its primary audience is the faculty, staff, and students of the ALEC department. The collections primary focus is support for the undergraduate and graduate curricula for agricultural education, tourism in agriculture, industrial technology education, leadership and communication. Specific and transient research needs of ALEC faculty and graduate students are supplemented through Interlibrary Loan. The focus of the ALEC collection is diverse in nature as it encompasses disciplines that are well established within colleges and departments in the university structure. The collection is multifaceted and is distributed widely to support curriculum and research needs within subject areas including: teaching, learning, and teacher education, and industrial technology as they pertain to agriculture. Tourism, environmental communication and education, and leadership are also included. Materials are not purchased for the general public though they may benefit from the collection

EBSCO Library of Congress Classification Report 2012
This report lists all periodicals subscribed to in 2012 through EBSCO Subscription Services by the University Libraries, University of Rhode Island. Information provided includes title, ISSN, Library of Congress Classification number and name, and account number (for URI, Pell, or CCE). The list is sorted by LC Classification to better show the journals that support each discipline/subject area. Not included here are titles available through online journal packages and reference databases, which now comprise the majority of the Libraries\u27 subscriptions. The journals listed here are those to which the Libraries subscribe to individually, title-by-title, through EBSCO
