Acredita-se que a etiopatog√™nese destas les√Ķes esteja relacionada a trauma persistente de baixa intensidade. Acomete com maior frequ√™ncia gengiva e rebordo alveolar e √© mais prevalente no g√™nero feminino. Les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes perif√©ricas peri-implantares t√™m sido descritas na literatura, mas sua etiopatog√™nese ainda √© incerta. Estudos imunoistoqu√≠micos comparando o perfil das les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes perif√©ricas e centrais n√£o t√™m demonstrado diferen√ßas significativas. O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar o perfil cl√≠nico-patol√≥gico e imunoistoqu√≠mico das les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes centrais, perif√©ricas convencionais e peri-implantares. Com esta finalidade, foram selecionados esp√©cimes provenientes de procedimentos cir√ļrgicos de 36 les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes (10 les√Ķes centrais de c√©lulas gigantes e 26 les√Ķes perif√©ricas de c√©lulas gigantes: 13 convencionais e 13 peri-implantares). Ap√≥s a confirma√ß√£o dos diagn√≥sticos em hematoxilina e eosina, os tecidos foram submetidos a t√©cnica imunoistoqu√≠mica. Foi verificada a express√£o dos seguintes ant√≠genos: ?-SMA, Bcl-2, GLUT-1, CD68, RANK, OPG, Ki67 e CD34. As rea√ß√Ķes foram analisadas quantitativamente com aux√≠lio do software Imagescope (Aperio). Os resultados dos escores de imunomarca√ß√£o foram analisados com software SPSS vers√£o 22, com n√≠vel de signific√Ęncia para todos os testes de 5%. Os escores de positividade para CD68 e Bcl-2 foram maiores para as les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes convencionais e centrais do que nas les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes peri-implantares (p=0.033 para CD68 e p<0.0001 para Bcl-2). A densidade microvascular (avaliada pela contagem de vasos CD34+) foi maior nas les√Ķes perif√©ricas de c√©lulas gigantes convencionais (p=0.002) do que nas outras les√Ķes. O √≠ndice de prolifera√ß√£o celular (avaliado pela porcentagem de n√ļcleos Ki67+) foi mais alto nas les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes peri-implantares; por√©m, n√£o houve diferen√ßa estatisticamente significante entre os grupos. Em conclus√£o, o presente estudo demostrou diferen√ßas na densidade microvascular, na atividade proliferativa e na express√£o de CD68 e Bcl-2 nas les√Ķes de c√©lulas gigantes convencionais, peri-implantares e centraisAbstract: Giant cell lesions (GCL) are common lesions in the soft tissues of the oral cavity and in the jaws. Although their pathogenesis remains understood, chronic trauma is suggested as a probable etiologic factor. Peripheral GCL occur mostly in the gingiva and alveolar ridge of females. Peripheral peri-implant GCL have been recently reported in the literature; however, their etiopathogenesis is not fully understood. Few studies have compared the immunophenotype of conventional and peri-implant GCL. The aim of this study was to evaluate and to compare the clinicopathological features and immunophenotype of conventional peripheral GCL, central GCL and peri-implant GCL. Thirty-six GCL were retrospectively selected, and after diagnosis confirmation in HE-stained slides, immunohistochemistry was performed in 10 central GCL, 13 conventional peripheral GCL and 13 peri-implant GCL. The primary antibodies used in this study were: ?-SMA, Bcl-2, GLUT-1, CD68, RANK, OPG, Ki67 e CD34. Immunohistochemical reactions for the antibodies mentioned above were performed and digitally scored by using the Imagescope software (Aperio). Digital scores for CD68 and Bcl-2 were higher in conventional PGCL and CGCL than in peri-implant PGCL (p=0.033 for CD68 and p<0,0001 for Bcl-2). Microvessel density was higher in the conventional PGCL than in CGCL and peri-implant PGCL (p =0.002). The cellular proliferative index was higher in peri-implant PGCL than in the other studied lesions; however, no significant statistical differences were noted among the groups.     The GIGANTES dataset: precision cosmology from voids in the machine learning era

    We present GIGANTES, the most extensive and realistic void catalog suite ever released -- containing over 1 billion cosmic voids covering a volume larger than the observable Universe, more than 20 TB of data, and created by running the void finder VIDE on QUIJOTE's halo simulations. The expansive and detailed GIGANTES suite, spanning thousands of cosmological models, opens up the study of voids, answering compelling questions: Do voids carry unique cosmological information? How is this information correlated with galaxy information? Leveraging the large number of voids in the GIGANTES suite, our Fisher constraints demonstrate voids contain additional information, critically tightening constraints on cosmological parameters. We use traditional void summary statistics (void size function, void density profile) and the void auto-correlation function, which independently yields an error of 0.13‚ÄČeV0.13\,\mathrm{eV} on ‚ąĎ‚ÄČmőĹ\sum\,m_{\nu} for a 1 h‚ąí3Gpc3h^{-3}\mathrm{Gpc}^3 simulation, without CMB priors. Combining halos and voids we forecast an error of 0.09‚ÄČeV0.09\,\mathrm{eV} from the same volume. Extrapolating to next generation multi-Gpc3^3 surveys such as DESI, Euclid, SPHEREx, and the Roman Space Telescope, we expect voids should yield an independent determination of neutrino mass. Crucially, GIGANTES is the first void catalog suite expressly built for intensive machine learning exploration. We illustrate this by training a neural network to perform likelihood-free inference on the void size function. Cosmology problems provide an impetus to develop novel deep learning techniques, leveraging the symmetries embedded throughout the universe from physical laws, interpreting models, and accurately predicting errors.     El fin del mundo de los gigantes. Las tradiciones literarias de Qumrán y su contribución al pensamiento apocalíptico judío sobre el desastre

    Apocalyptic scenarios of disaster have frequently been understood in terms of fate and as product of a struggle between otherworldly beings, angels and demons. The archetypical story of the world which ended with the flood in 1 Enoch is significantly supplemented by Qumran literature. The end of the world of giants as described in the Qumran Book of Giants provides a unique narrative personification of this world, highlighting human dimensions of responsibility, warfare and great injustice, and aspects of social organization, and providing references to the Mesopotamian epic hero Gilgamesh who envisaged an end to his mythical strength, when his warfare against all flesh came to a turning point of heavenly vindication. Differently from 1 Enoch 14.8-22 and from Daniel 7,9-10, the Book of Giants situates a throne vision of divine judgement on earth rather than in heaven. The Qumran Book of Giants narrates aspects of the thought world of the giants, describing the anguish of the giants through their conversations and their unsettling dreams. Literary parallels between the book of Daniel, Enochic literature, and the Book of Giants suggest that cultural memory about the destructive use of power in the Babylonian age belongs among the ingredients of the archetypical stories of the giants in the Book of Watchers and the Book of Giants.Los escenarios apocal√≠pticos de desastre han sido frecuentemente entendidos en t√©rminos de destino y como resultado de una lucha entre seres sobrenaturales, √°ngeles y demonios.     This article describes a model, developed by the Structural Analysis Division of Statistics Canada, that helps analyse the economic implications of policy decisions in the environment of a supply-constrained economy. The Canadian input-output model is modified to introduce constraints on the uses of some commodity or industry products. These constraints take the form of limits on the availability of commodities for some uses, constraints that ensure that some minimum levels of final demand for each commodity are satisfied, and capacity constraints on the outputs of industries. Given these constraints, a linear function of the activity levels is maximized. The resulting solution gives a vector of activity levels, and also corresponding final demands that are optimal in terms of the objective function.The use of the model is illustrated by analyzing the 'optimal' allocation of industrial outputs in the face of a reduction in the availability of the commodity, 'crude mineral oils', for industrial uses. Two objective functions are used: total employment, and total wages, salaries and supplementary labour income. For each objective function, a ranking of the industries is defined by the solutions of the model.Experience with this model leads us to conclude that it is useful in indicating which industries are of primary interest in a specific shortage situation, rather than in setting exact values of cutbacks to impose on industries. In the conclusion, relaxation of the major assumptions underlying the model and some possible extensions are discussed

    Malignização primária no tumor de células gigantes: um estudo de caso

    CONTEXT: Primary malignancy in giant cell tumor (PMGCT) is rare. It is defined as a high-grade sarcoma originating in a giant cell tumor (GCT) and seems to behave less aggressively than its secondary counterpart does. CASE REPORT: This report presents the case of a 39-year-old female with pain in her left shoulder for one month. Radiography showed a pathological fracture of the proximal humerus associated with an osteolytic lesion. Histopathological analysis showed typical areas of GCT juxtaposed with a sarcomatous component. CONCLUSIONS: PMGCT seems to behave less aggressively than secondary malignancy in GCT, and it may simulate its more common benign counterpart clinically and radiographically. However, it requires a more aggressive type of treatment.CONTEXTO: Maligniza√ß√£o prim√°ria no tumor de c√©lulas gigantes (MPTCG) √© rara.
