    Get PDF
This quantitative non-experimental correlational study involved the investigation of the relationships between job satisfaction, gender, marital status, and parental status among educational leaders who identify as being Christian. A multiple regression analysis was utilized to determine how accurately job satisfaction, as measured by the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), can be predicted from a linear combination of gender, marital status, and parental status for Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth-grade school administrators identifying as Christian. A sample size of 573 educational leaders in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth-grade schools who identified as being Christian participated in this study. The gender distribution in this study was relatively balanced, with 43.82% of participants being male, and 56.18% of participants being female. Multiple regression analysis revealed that gender, marital status, and parental status have no significant relationship with job satisfaction. The significance of this study lies in the need for increased gender awareness among school administrators, and the impact that gender roles play in job satisfaction related to work-life balance. Recommendations for further research include developing a spiritually focused job satisfaction survey due to the feedback from participants regarding their job satisfaction coming from a sense of calling rather than from external sources

Objective: To investigate the relationship between satisfaction with life in general, sense of humor, and anxiety, depression and stress with subjective happiness in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional and correlational study was developed in two units of the Diaverum dialysis clinic and one hospital unit, with 183 chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. An instrument was used to characterize the sociodemographic and clinical profile of the sample (age, gender, nationality, education, occupation, marital status, dialysis sessions length, presence of hypertension and diabetes): the subjective happiness scale; the satisfaction with life in general; depression, anxiety and stress scale 21; and multidimensional sense of humor scale. Inferential procedures included Spearman correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression adjusting to age, marital status, professional activity and diabetes. Results: Subjective Happiness was positively correlated with satisfaction with life in general, and the three dimensions of Sense of Humor. Nevertheless, subjective happiness was negatively correlated with stress / anxiety and depression. Satisfaction with life in general, humor production and social use of humor, and attitude towards humor had a positive relationship with subjective happiness. However, depression had a negative relationship with subjective happiness. Conclusions: Higher levels of subjective happiness were associated with higher levels of satisfaction with life in general, and sense of humor, however they were also associated with lower levels of depression in patients undergoing hemodialysis

The degree of population satisfaction with life characterizes the state of society and does not remain constant. It is characterized by the coefficient of life satisfaction that is based on the data of sociological polls. The dynamics of the coefficient shows that the assessment of life satisfaction of the Russian population was negative up to 2006, and in subsequent years it has become positive. The degree of life satisfaction is influenced by objective factors (income and expenditure of population, GDP per capita, unemployment, etc.), as well as by subjective factors (gender, age, marital status, social status, mood state, etc.)

© 2019 Elsevier Inc. Life satisfaction (LS), as a major indicator of subjective well-being, is a rapidly growing concern all over the world. Despite their country\u27s powerful economic status, Japanese people experience relatively low levels of LS. This paper investigates demographic, social and psychological variables associated with Japanese people\u27s life evaluation, and identifies important factors in each age and gender group. Using a representative annual survey of Japanese respondents, we find that material well-being (household income satisfaction, satisfaction with standards of living) is most strongly associated with LS. Other factors such as marital status, affective experience, and education, are also significant predictors. The data show that LS decreases over the life course and that individuals in late adulthood are the least satisfied with their lives. Furthermore, there is evidence that a gender gap exists for levels of LS at each stage of life. We identify important factors associated with LS across gender and age groups and, overall, our intensive analysis of a wide range of potential factors provides a comprehensive model of life evaluation in Japan. We conclude with the argument that follow-up studies will benefit from a consideration of key social issues in the context of Japanese society such as relative wealth, ageing, and gender inequality

This study has examined a variety of variables that influence an individual’ s suicide intention, and analyzed the impact of these variables. The data are from the 2014 wave of the Korea Welfare Panel Survey (KoWePS). I analyze data on 13,687 out of 17,134 survey participants. The dependent variable of my study is suicide intention such as suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The independent variables are classified into three categories: socio-demographic, psychological and mental health. Socio-demographic variables are gender, age, education, marital status, and income. Psychological variables are self-esteem, satisfaction with life, and religion. Mental health variables are depression, alcohol use, and smoking. I used a logistic regression model to test the effect of independent variables because the dependent variable is binary. Gender, income and marital status in the socio-demographic factors, satisfaction with life in psychological factors, and depression, alcohol use and smoking in mental health factors are significantly related with suicide intention. The result of this study shows that we need to consider all three categories of factors: socio-demographic factors, psychological factors, and mental health factors. In order to mitigate individuals’ suicide intention, this study indicates that it is necessary to treat mental health factors such as depression, alcohol use, and smoking. It is also important to promote satisfaction with life, to assist the low-income, and to consider gender related factors. This paper will be used to help establish the governmental policies for suicide prevention and intervention
