    In the last decade, agent-based e-commerce has emerged as a potential role for the next generation of e-commerce. How to create agents for e-commerce applications has become a serious consideration in this field. This paper proposes a new scheme named agent fabrication and elaborates its implementation in multi-agent systems based on the SAFER (Secure Agent Fabrication, Evolution & Roaming) architecture. First, a conceptual structure is proposed for software agents carrying out e-commerce activities. Furthermore, agent module suitcase is defined to facilitate agent fabrication. With these definitions and facilities in the SAFER architecture, the formalities of agent fabrication are elaborated. In order to enhance the security of agent-based e-commerce, an infrastructure of agent authorization and authentication is integrated in agent fabrication. Our implementation and prototype applications show that the proposed agent fabrication scheme brings forth a potential solution for creating agents in agent-based e-commerce applications

    Photoresist-free printing of amorphous silicon thin-film transistors

    Conventional fabrication of amorphous silicon thin-film transistors (a-Si TFTs) requires patterning numerous photoresist layers, a subtractive process that is time consuming and expensive. This letter describes transistor fabrication by a photoresist-free approach in which polymer etch masks are letterpress printed from flexible polyimide stamps. Pattern registration is achieved through optical alignment since the printed masks are thin and optically transparent. This modified fabrication scheme produces transistor performance equivalent to conventionally fabricated a-Si TFTs. The ability to directly print etch masks onto nonhomogeneous substrates brings one step closer the realization of flexible, large-area, macroelectronic fabrication

    One-step volumetric additive manufacturing of complex polymer structures.

    Two limitations of additive manufacturing methods that arise from layer-based fabrication are slow speed and geometric constraints (which include poor surface quality). Both limitations are overcome in the work reported here, introducing a new volumetric additive fabrication paradigm that produces photopolymer structures with complex nonperiodic three-dimensional geometries on a time scale of seconds. We implement this approach using holographic patterning of light fields, demonstrate the fabrication of a variety of structures, and study the properties of the light patterns and photosensitive resins required for this fabrication approach. The results indicate that low-absorbing resins containing ~0.1% photoinitiator, illuminated at modest powers (~10 to 100 mW), may be successfully used to build full structures in ~1 to 10 s
