NHEP Data Management Plan

A goal of the New Hampshire Estuaries Project (NHEP) and its monitoring program is to promote a cooperative effort by all agencies and organizations who participate in monitoring activities, in order to maximize the usefulness of current monitoring efforts and available data. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to effectively manage the large volume of existing information as well as new information that will be developed through the NHEP monitoring program. Data and information about NH’s estuaries now exists in multiple formats within a variety of organizations. Existing monitoring programs are designed to meet the missions of the various implementing organizations. The organizations use different procedures and protocols for data collection, analysis, storage, and reporting. Coordination of data management among organizations is currently limited. This Data Management Plan contains protocols for data reporting to the NHEP to facilitate data integration. Different protocols will be applied to different types of data (e.g., chemical, geospatial, and biological). The protocols will be considered contract requirements for NHEP monitoring programs and recommended guidelines for other partners. This plan also includes protocols for conducting quality assurance tests on water quality data to ensure the integrity of the NHEP indicators

BBSRC Data Management Plan Assessment Rubric

This rubric is intended to assist in the assessment of BBSRC data management plans, against the criteria required by the funder. It is not intended to be used as a template for researchers to follow when writing a data management plan. The rubric has been divided into 'performance criteria' (on the left hand side) which cover the information the funder expects to be covered by the data management plan. Each performance criteria is followed by three descriptions of how it might be addressed, each indicating a different level of response. The descriptions are intended as examples of how the performance criteria might be addressed and are not considered to be exhaustive. The rubric also lists the documents and resources on which it was based

State of Our Estuaries 2006

The 2006 State of the Estuaries Report includes twelve indicators intended to report on the health and environmental quality of New Hampshire’s estuaries. The New Hampshire Estuaries Project (NHEP) developed and now implements a Monitoring Plan to track environmental indicators, inform management decisions, and report on environmental progress and status. The Monitoring Plan describes the methods and data for 34 indicators used to determine if the environmental goals and objectives of the Management Plan are being met. For each indicator, the Monitoring Plan defines the monitoring objective, management goal, data quality objectives, data analysis and statistical methods, and data sources. Just as implementation of the Management Plan for New Hampshire’s estuaries involves the collaboration of many organizations and agencies, the NHEP Monitoring Plan relies on data compiled from organizations that are leaders in the management and protection of the state’s estuaries and coastal watershed resources

TANdoRI Data Management Plan

The overriding principle of the guidance provided by the RCUK Common Principles on Data Policy is that research data produced using public funds is in the common public good and should be made openly available in a timely manner; access should be available with as few restrictions as possible. With this as a central guiding principle, a data management plan is set out below. Best practices are set out by the UK’s Digital Curation Centre; this is a “world-leading centre of expertise in digital information curation with a focus on building capacity, capability and skills for research data management across the UK's higher education research community.” Ultimately data will be published in appropriate scientific journals that permit free and open access to the general public; this is compliance with RCUK’s requirements all partners involved in the project (including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) will agree to comply with common practices of data management, storage and management, as outlined in this document

The purpose of the Final Data Management Plan is to provide a definitive analysis of the elements of the data management policy that will be used with regard to all the datasets generated in the project. It reflects the decisions within the consortium about the data produced
