Critical success factors for preventing E-banking fraud

    Get PDF
E-Banking fraud is an issue being experienced globally and is continuing to prove costly to both banks and customers. Frauds in e-banking services occur as a result of various compromises in security ranging from weak authentication systems to insufficient internal controls. Lack of research in this area is problematic for practitioners so there is need to conduct research to help improve security and prevent stakeholders from losing confidence in the system. The purpose of this paper is to understand factors that could be critical in strengthening fraud prevention systems in electronic banking. The paper reviews relevant literatures to help identify potential critical success factors of frauds prevention in e-banking. Our findings show that beyond technology, there are other factors that need to be considered such as internal controls, customer education and staff education etc. These findings will help assist banks and regulators with information on specific areas that should be addressed to build on their existing fraud prevention systems

From critical success factors to critical success processes

After myriad studies into the main causes of project failure, almost every project manager can list the main factors that distinguish between project failure and project success. These factors are usually called Critical Success Factors (CSF). However, despite the fact that CSF are well-known, the rate of failed projects still remains very high. This may be due to the fact that current CSF are too general and do not contain specific enough know-how to better support project managers decision-making. This paper analyses the impact of 16 specific planning processes on project success and identifies Critical Success Processes (CSP) to which project success is most vulnerable. Results are based on a field study that involved 282 project managers. It was found that the most critical planning processes, which have the greatest impact on project success, are "definition of activities to be performed in the project", "schedule development", "organizational planning", "staff acquisition", "communications planning" and "developing a project plan". It was also found that project managers usually do not divide their time effectively among the different processes, following their influence on project success

. Cluster approach has attracted discussion among scientists and has been widely used for economic development today. Various studies have shown that clusters can provide economic benefits and become source of economic growth. Many literatures have studied about cluster, but there is still necessity in identifying factors to develop an innovative learning-cluster. This paper proposes the critical success factor to develop an innovative learning-cluster. Through case study in a footwear cluster in Indonesia, it is found that several categories are not sufficient and needs to be strengthened. General preconditions become the foundation or the initial base, while networks & partnership, institutional capacity, and market & infrastructure for learning become the boosting factor. This indicates that there is a process which has to be passed to develop an innovative learning-cluster and it cannot directly be created from its establishment. For footwear cluster, technical skill and knowledge of human resources, particularly designer and marketing personel becomes key factor for learning to achieve innovation. Government policy becomes a limiting factor to form an innovative learning-cluster. Leadership factors also plays important role to direct strategic vision for the cluster

Since the implementation of the public procurement system faces many challenges, the government started implementing electronic government procurement (e-procurement) as the government policy to provide better public procurement. The aims of e-procurement system was to make the purchasing process of goods and services more economical, efficient, and effective, to reduce corruption and conspiracy and to increases transparency and accountability as well. For these reasons, this research aimed to describe the implementation of e-procurement and identify the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) which supported the successful implementation of e-procurement in ministerial level. The preliminary research recommended the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) to be the research's location. This research implemented sequential exploratory mixed method design. This method combined the qualitative research to analyze the successful implementation of e-procurement in Bappenas and the quantitative research with Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to identify the CSFs' influences toward the successful e-procurement implementation in Bappenas. The results show that Bappenas succeeded in implementing the values and principles of e-procurement in practice. Furthermore, the result of EFA shows that the successful e-procurement implementation in Bappenas was influenced by the eight Critical Success Factors, namely: the e-procurement system (13.34%), the system security (12.48%), education and training (11.75%), top management support (11.63%), re-engineering business process (8.82%), change management (8.54%), the e-procurement strategy (7.78%) and competence and capable providers (6.84%). The methodology and result of this research could have significance for the government institutions in identifying the critical success factors to enhance the successful e-procurement implementation

. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have become vitalstrategic tools in today‟s competitive business environment. This researchattempts to identify the most ERP Critical Success Factors (CSF) from someliterature which is suitable for PT. Balrich Logistics and to measure impact ofeach factor in order to have a better understanding and a clearer picture of thefactors that are considered to be vital for a successful ERP INFORimplementation at PT. Balrich Logistics. The sample of this research consisted ofthe user who implemented ERP systems. Data collected through a questionnairewhich distribution to 80 people. Research carried out by using Structural EquationModeling (SEM) which was run by AMOS Program. The results of this researchshowed that vendor support is the vital variable for supporting the successfulimplementation of ERP systems, and then followed by other variables sorted byscore from highest to lowest, namely: top management support, education andtraining, suitability of software and hardware with company need, and the last oneis effective project management. Theoretical implications and suggestions for thecompany from this study have been elaborated at the end of this stud

Collaboration: Critical success factors for student learning

Several studies identify collaboration between classroom teachers and teacher-librarians as a key factor that affects student achievement. Studies in teacher-librarianship have established procedures and processes for effective collaboration. This study examines collaboration from a broader theoretical and research perspective, beginning with 20 factors that specifically influence successful collaborations. These are clustered in six areas: factors related to the environment, to membership characteristics, to process and structure, to communication, to purpose, and to resources. Research from teacher-librarianship is then applied to substantiate and reinforce the factors and provide context for successful collaboration and thus effect on students\u27 learning in schools. The reverse and third party logistics operational process is now well known and established to be a vital component of modern day supply chain and product / service-based organizations (Marasco, 2007). Apart from being a vital component of such enterprises, many researchers and practitioners have also been noting the importance of this approach and its impact on customer service, satisfaction, profitability and other key performance indicators (Autry et al., 2001). However, studies relating to reverse 3PL performance are still limited. This research attempts to examine the factors that influence the reverse logistics performance within 3PL, within a specific case study organization in Thailand, which aims to add to work carried out relating to such operations in this part of the world such as by Bhatnagar et al. (1999). This research uses a combination of a qualitative case study along with a quantitative approach (Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping) to model and analyse the constructs which underpin the dynamics involved within a 3PL scenario. As such, both the combined approaches are based upon the development and testing of a hypothesis via empirical primary and computational data. Hence, using extant literature, and combined qualitative and quantitative research approaches, the paper identifies significant and pertinent critical success factors for reverse 3PL performance (centred around the indogenous/exogenous relationship between information systems, resource commitment and organizational structure). The paper also explores the deep inter-relationships involved within 3PL operations using the Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping technique, contributing to the existing literature on reverse 3PL and performant supply chains, and identifying critical success factors and underlying determinants of reverse 3PL of use to those industry and investigating the area from an academic perspective
