XVIII International Coal Preparation Congress
Changes in economic and market conditions of mineral raw materials in recent
years have greatly increased demands on the ef fi ciency of mining production. This
is certainly true of the coal industry. World coal consumption is growing faster than
other types of fuel and in the past year it exceeded 7.6 billion tons. Coal extraction
and processing technology are continuously evolving, becoming more economical
and environmentally friendly. “ Clean coal ” technology is becoming increasingly
popular. Coal chemistry, production of new materials and pharmacology are now
added to the traditional use areas — power industry and metallurgy. The leading role
in the development of new areas of coal use belongs to preparation technology and
advanced coal processing. Hi-tech modern technology and the increasing interna-
tional demand for its effectiveness and ef fi ciency put completely new goals for the
University. Our main task is to develop a new generation of workforce capacity and
research in line with global trends in the development of science and technology to
address critical industry issues.
Today Russia, like the rest of the world faces rapid and profound changes
affecting all spheres of life. The de fi ning feature of modern era has been a rapid
development of high technology, intellectual capital being its main asset and
resource. The dynamics of scienti fi c and technological development requires acti-
vation of University research activities. The University must be a generator of ideas
to meet the needs of the economy and national development. Due to the high
intellectual potential, University expert mission becomes more and more called for
and is capable of providing professional assessment and building science-based
predictions in various fi elds.
Coal industry, as well as the whole fuel and energy sector of the global economy
is growing fast. Global multinational energy companies are less likely to be under
state in fl uence and will soon become the main mechanism for the rapid spread of
technologies based on new knowledge. Mineral resources will have an even greater
impact on the stability of the economies of many countries. Current progress in the
technology of coal-based gas synthesis is not just a change in the traditional energy markets, but the emergence of new products of direct consumption, obtained from
coal, such as synthetic fuels, chemicals and agrochemical products. All this requires
a revision of the value of coal in the modern world economy

Advances in Synthesis of Metallic, Oxidic and Composite Powders
Advances in synthesis of metallic, oxidic and composite powders were presented via the following methods: ultrasound-assisted leaching¸ ultrasonic spray pyrolysis, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, ball milling, molten salt electrolysis, galvanostatic electrolysis, hydrogen reduction, thermochemical decomposition, inductively coupled thermal plasma, precipitation and high pressure carbonation in an autoclave. This Special Issue contains 17 papers from Europe, Asia, Australia, South Africa and the Balkans. The synthesis was focused on metals: Co, Cu; Re; oxides: ZnO, MgO, SiO2; V2O5; sulfides: MoS2, core shell material: Cu-Al2O3, Pt/TiO2; compounds: Ca0.75Ce0.25ZrTi2O7, Mo5Si3, Ti6Al4V. International Conference on Civil Infrastructure and Construction (CIC 2020)
This is the proceedings of the CIC 2020 Conference, which was held under
the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al
Thani in Doha, Qatar from 2 to 5 February 2020. The goal of the conference
was to provide a platform to discuss next-generation infrastructure and its
construction among key players such as researchers, industry professionals
and leaders, local government agencies, clients, construction contractors and
policymakers.
The conference gathered industry and academia to disseminate their research
and field experiences in multiple areas of civil engineering. It was also a unique
opportunity for companies and organizations to show the most recent
advances in the field of civil infrastructure and construction.
The conference covered a wide range of timely topics that address the needs
of the construction industry all over the world and particularly in Qatar. All
papers were peer reviewed by experts in their field and edited for publication.
The conference accepted a total number of 127 papers submitted by authors
from five different continents under the following four themes:

SPATIAL TRANSFORMATION PATTERN DUE TO COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY IN KAMPONG HOUSE
ABSTRACT Kampung houses are houses in kampung area of the city. Kampung House oftenly transformed into others use as urban dynamics. One of the transfomation is related to the commercial activities addition by the house owner. It make house with full private space become into mixused house with more public spaces or completely changed into full public commercial building. This study investigate the spatial transformation pattern of the kampung houses due to their commercial activities addition. Site observations, interviews and questionnaires were performed to study the spatial transformation. This study found that in kampung houses, the spatial transformation pattern was depend on type of commercial activities and owner perceptions, and there are several steps of the spatial transformation related the commercial activity addition.

Collision milling of oil shale ash as constituent pretreatment in concrete 3D printing
Concrete is an essential construction material, and infrastructures, such as bridges, tunnels, and power plants, consume large quantities of it. Future infrastructure demands and sustainability issues necessitate the adoption of non-conventional supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). At the same time, global labor shortages are compelling the conservative construction sector to implement autonomous and digital fabrication methods, such as 3D printing. This paper thus investigates the feasibility of using oil shale ash (OSA) as an SCM in concrete suitable for 3D printing, and collision milling is examined as a possible ash pretreatment. OSA from four different sources was collected and analyzed for its physical, chemical, and mineralogical composition. Concrete formulations containing ash were tested for mechanical performance, and the two best-performing formulations were assessed for printability. It was found that ash extracted from flue gases by the novel integrated desulfurizer has the greatest potential as an SCM due to globular particles that contain β-calcium silicate. The 56-day compression strength of concrete containing this type of ash is ~60 MPa, the same as in the reference composition. Overall, collision milling is effective in reducing the size of particles larger than 10 μm but does not seem beneficial for ash extracted from flue gasses. However, milling bottom ash may unlock its potential as an SCM, with the optimal milling frequency being ~100 Hz
