Transmission of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has now rapidly spread around the world, which has alarming implications for individuals and communities, in particular for public mental health. Significant progress has been made in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in China, but the psychological crisis caused by the epidemic is still not over and may continue to exist. The public mental health in the post-COVID-19 era should not be ignored. This article provides early warning for the public\u27s mental health in the post-COVID-19 era by listing the characteristics and duration of the public mental health crisis following the SARS outbreak. In addition, based on the current situation, specific methods and measures are proposed in order to provide effective reference for the prevention and control of psychological crisis caused by the COVID-19 epidemic

The spread of the latest Coronavirus strain is not simply a health crisis. It has long taken on a geopolitical dimension. China and Russia are engaged in a ‘global battle of narratives’ over who is the most generous international power. In the geopolitical competition for Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, the European Union (EU) struggles to cut a good figure. The COVID-19 crisis could bring an EaP crisis

The onset of COVID-19 left people feeling unsettled, confused, and afraid of what tomorrow may hold. As university professors specializing in health communication, we too were left with these same feelings. As health communication scholars, we focus on issues surrounding illness, risk, crisis, care, health inequities, and wellness. COVID-19 is a health crisis, yes, but it has also changed the way we operate not only in higher education but in daily life. We begin this essay with an overview of COVID-19 and its impact on students, educators, and administrators. Then, we suggest four best practices to foster a community of care in the classroom during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic

Introduction: Boarding of pediatric psychiatric patients in emergency departments and inpatient medical units while awaiting placement in psychiatric facilities was common before the COVID-19 pandemic and was associated with significant hospital cost. The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a mental health crisis in the pediatric population. This study looked at the how the COVID-19 pandemic affected pediatric psychiatric boarding and the effects of pediatric psychiatric boarding on hospital finances. Methodology: The methodology of this study utilized a literature review with semi-structured interviews of local subject matter experts. The literature review analyzed the effects of the COVID-19 precipitated pediatric mental health crisis on pediatric psychiatric boarding and the financial effects of psychiatric boarding on children’s hospitals. Results: Pediatric psychiatric boarding during COVID-19 was majority due to COVID-related stressors. There is mixed evidence for the number of pediatric psychiatric boarding admissions to emergency departments and general inpatient units during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is also mixed evidence regarding length of stay for pediatric boarding patients. Limited data was found regarding hospital cost and reimbursement for pediatric psychiatric boarding during the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussion/Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent pediatric mental health crisis had a significant impact on pediatric psychiatric boarding. More studies are needed to determine the extent of the financial effects of COVID-19 due to pediatric psychiatric boarding

Military engagement in response to COVID-19 crisis has been a policy discourse since the breakout of the pandemic in early 2020 worldwide. While the extent to which the military engagement of COVID-19 responses remains contentious, we identify the ways in which Southeast Asian countries have employed troops in dealing with the public health crises and challenges. Aimed to measure how deep military engagements in the COVID-19 responses in Southeast Asia have been, we developed the typology of military responses during COVID-19 pandemic by Passos and Aćacio. We discovered that military involvement is impacted by governance capacity, especially health care system, rather than political strength. A country that has weak in health care capacity tends to engage military in fighting against COVID-19.Military engagement in response to COVID-19 crisis has been a policy discourse since the breakout of the pandemic in early 2020 worldwide.

This paper is motivated by the influences that the COVID-19 health crisis had on the economies of the world. The economic crisis that has evolved from the health crisis affected economic life at all levels (global, national, industry, and company levels), including the trading relationships between countries. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the influence of the COVID-19 health crisis on the bilateral trading relationships between Romania and its main trading partners in terms of both exports and imports, for the year 2020. The research method used is multiple regression with exports and imports as dependent variables and the COVID-19 burden (solely the number of COVID-19 cases, solely the number of COVID-19 deaths and both taken together) and GDP in both Romania and the trading partners, as independent variables.  The data has been collected from international organizations' statistical databases. The findings of the paper illustrate that both the GDP of Romania and the COVID-19 burden in both Romania and the partner countries influenced the bilateral trading relationships of Romania with its main trading partners in 2020. Romanian imports were more affected than exports by the COVID-19 burden both from Romania and from the trading partners. The number of deaths due to COVID-19 had a higher influence on trade than the number of COVID-19 cases. Based on this country case study, we can assert that global sanitary crises do have an influence on the international trade relationships of countries. Consequently, specific measures need to be taken by policymakers in order to first ensure economic recovery and second to support and maintain international trade flows during times of strong health crises
