The Li intercalation potential of LiMPO4 and LiMSiO4 olivines with M = Fe, Mn, Co, Ni
The Li intercalation potential of LiMPO4 and LiMSiO4 compounds with M = Fe,
Mn, Co, and Ni is computed with the GGA+U method. It is found that this
approach is considerably more accurate than standard LDA or GGA methods. The
calculated potentials for LiFePO4, LiMnPO4 and LiCoOPO4 agree to within 0.1 V
with experimental results. The LiNiPO4 potential is predicted to be above 5 V.
The potentials of the silicate materials are all found to be rather high, but
LiFeSiO4 and LiCoSiO4 have negligible volume change upon Li extraction.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure
Analysis of Representative Rice Farms Under H.R. 2646 and the Continuation of the FAIR Act
In anticipation of the new farm bill, seventeen representative rice farms from six different rice-producing states have been analyzed to compare the continuation of the FAIR Act provisions with the House proposal, H.R. 2646. Massage Therapy in Outpatient Cancer Care: A Metropolitan Area Analysis.
Massage offers cancer patients general quality of life benefits as well as alleviation of cancer-related symptoms/cancer-treatment-related symptoms including pain, anxiety, and fatigue. Little is known about whether massage is accessible to cancer patients who receive treatment in the outpatient setting and how massage is incorporated into the overall cancer treatment plan. Outpatient cancer centers (n = 78) in a single metropolitan area were included this mixed-methods project that included a systematic analysis of website information and a telephone survey. Massage was offered at only 40 centers (51.3% of total). A range of massage modalities were represented, with energy-based therapies (Reiki and Therapeutic Touch) most frequently provided. Although massage therapists are licensed health care providers in the states included in this analysis, massage was also provided by nurses, physical therapists, and other health care professionals
Optical polarimetry of the blazar CGRaBS~ J0211+1051 from MIRO
We report the detection of high polarization in the first detailed optical
linear polarization measurements on the BL Lac object CGRaBS J0211+1051, which
flared in -rays on 2011 January 23 as reported by Fermi. The
observations were made during 2011 January 30 - February 3 using
photo-polarimeter mounted at the 1.2m telescope of Mt Abu InfraRed
Observatory(MIRO). The CGRaBS J0211+1051 was detected to have degree of polarization (DP) with steady position angle (PA) at
43 on 2011 January 30. During Jan 31 and Feb 1, while polarization
shows some variation, position angle remains steady for the night. Several
olarization flashes occurred during February 2 and 3 resulting in changes in
the DP by more than 4% at short time scales ( 17 to 45 mins). A mild
increase in the linear polarization with frequency is noticed during the nights
of February 2 & 3. The source exhibited significant inter-night variations in
the degree of polarization (changed by about 2 to 9%) and position angle
(changed by 2 to 22) during the five nights of observations. The
intra-night activity shown by the source appears to be related to turbulence in
the relativistic jet. Sudden change in the PA accompanied by a rise in the DP
could be indicative of the fresh injection of electrons in the jet. The
detection of high and variable degree of polarization categorizes the source as
low energy peaked blazar.Comment: 14-pages including 3-figure

In the last year, the Central Administration of the Health System proposed a new way of allocating the financial resources in Primary Care Trust.
The goal of this study is to find different possibilities for allocating the financial
resources in Primary Care in Portugal. We use data from the Central Administration of the Health System. The Proposal uses linear and quantile regressions, having the per capita costs as a dependent variable.
