Abstract

"Der Deutsche Vortrupp" (English: German Vanguard) was a publication for German nationalist Jewish youth. Its editor, Hans Joachim Schoeps, was a religious historian of Jewish descent. "Der Vortrupp" was a newsletter for an esoteric movement of German Jewish youth that idealized National Socialism as a cultural renewal. In "Der Vortrupp," Schoeps sought to integrate Jews with National Socialism. He was opposed to Jewish assimilation and Zionism.
