Academic misconduct of information: a study of plagiarism in library and information studies

Abstract

يشهد العالم منذ ثمانينات القرن العشرين تحولات جذرية في الاقتصاد والتكنولوجيا والمعلومات، مما أدى إلى ازدياد الاهتمام بقضايا حقوق الملكية الفكرية والانتحال العلمي. وقد ساهمت شبكة الإنترنت في تفاقم ظاهرة السرقات الفكرية، حيث أصبح الوصول إلى المعلومات أكثر سهولة، مما أدى إلى تزايد حالات الانتحال سواء بقصد أو بغير قصد. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل ظاهرة الانتحال العلمي، أسبابها، وأنواعها، ومدى انتشارها بين الباحثين في مجالات المكتبات والمعلومات. كما تسلط الضوء على أهم برامج كشف الانتحال، خاصة تلك التي تدعم اللغة العربية، من حيث الكفاءة وسهولة الاستخدام والتكلفة. وتستعرض الدراسة أيضًا مدى التزام الباحثين بمبادئ النزاهة الأكاديمية، وتقترح حلولًا وآليات للحد من هذه الظاهرة في المجتمع الأكاديمي.Since the 1980s, the world has witnessed profound transformations in economics, technology, and information, leading to increased concerns about intellectual property rights and academic plagiarism. The advent of the internet has exacerbated intellectual theft, making information more accessible and contributing to the rise of plagiarism cases, whether intentional or unintentional. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of academic plagiarism, its causes, types, and prevalence among researchers in library and information sciences. It also examines plagiarism detection software, particularly those supporting the Arabic language, in terms of efficiency, usability, and cost. Furthermore, the study assesses researchers\u27 adherence to academic integrity principles and proposes solutions and mechanisms to mitigate this issue within the academic community
