Abstract

FAJAR FIRDAUS. 2023. The Effectiveness of Using Sludge in Reducing Adhesive on Sangkuriang Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) Eggs Applied to Hatching Funnel Containers. Supervised by NOVITA MZ and ARIF SUPENDI. This study aimed to compare the use of unheated sludge with heated sludge in reducing the adhesive properties of catfish eggs. The research method used was an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments used were 1) heated sludge and 2) unheated sludge with the same concentration of 200 grams/liter and consisted of 3 replicates. The research container used was a hatching funnel with 6 hatching funnels. Observations were made for two days on fecundity, degree of fertilization (FR), and degree of hatching (HR). The results showed that the use of sludge to soak sangkuriang catfish eggs was effective in reducing the adhesive properties of eggs. Unheated sludge has better effectiveness than heated sludge. This can be seen in the high FR and HR, which amounted to 99%. The low degree of HR in the unheated sludge is thought to be due to the presence of bacteria. The low HR value observed can be caused by the less effective hatching medi
