A computational framework for large strain electromechanics of electro-visco-hyperelastic beams

Abstract

In this paper, a new framework for large strain of electro-active viscoelastic polymeric beams is developed. The kinematical quantities of beam are derived, and then the constitutive equations of electromechanical beam are developed. To expand the formulation to viscoelastic regime, a generalization of quasi-linear viscoelasticity theory for electo-mechanical deformation is developed and called electro-mechanical quasi-linear viscoelastic (EM-QLV) theory. To deal with highly nonlinear formulation, a finite element formulation in Total Lagrangian framework is derived. Finally, to examine the applicability of the proposed model, several examples are presented and compared with the results in the literature. The third author acknowledges the financial support received via project POTENTIAL (PID2022-141957OB-C21) funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/FEDER.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
