Δεν διατίθεται περίληψη.Teachers nowadays are forced to undertake more demanding roles than in the past. That seems to be a wider international phenomenon that affects teachers' status. 426 teachers in 100 schools in the country of Evros in Northern Greece took part in our research and they rank by degree of importance 9 status factors and express their opinion about whether society at large and the state, in particular, appreciate their work. The renovation established in Greece in 1997 is going to change many factors in teachers' job but the point is that teachers' lowbudget preparation and low expectation from their studies must be changed, if we want to have teachers', students' and society's needs met
