Founded in 1902 as a charter member of the American Association, the Indianapolis Indians have played in a variety of leagues and been affiliated with several major league teams. The team played its early seasons at several parks before Perry Stadium was built on Sixteenth Street in 1931. That ballpark, which was named Victory Field in 1942 and Bush Stadium in 1967, remained the team's home until July 1996
