Luella Runck Ration Book
Abstract
This ration book belonged to Luella Runck of Oxford, Indiana. When the U. S. government instituted rationing in the spring of 1942 to control wartime food supplies, every Indiana resident joined the home-front effort. Individuals used these books daily to purchase rationed goods such as sugar, butter, beefsteak, and gas. Though not rare, this book represents the spirit of civic duty evident during the war.Exhibited as part of "Treasures from the Collections - Celebrating 175 Years: 1830-2005."
