Washington Street -- 1825: View Looking West from Pennsylvania Street
Abstract
James Linton built the first two-story house in Indianapolis in 1822 on West Washington Street. The first Sunday school was organized in the cabinet shop of Caleb Scudder in 1823 with 70 pupils from the village of about 500 people.
