Abstract

During the first decades of the 20th century, Hackney & Moale Co. was a publishing and printing firm with locations in Asheville, North Carolina. Banners on the front of their brick building advertised printing and binding services as well as publishing. As early as 1903, Hackney & Moale were in business, having printed a report for the Peabody Fund that year. Apparently still in business in 1919, Hackney & Moale published a rhyming book. In 1906, they published a directory of Haywood County that included an advertisement describing their printing and bindery operation, as well as a related retail operation that sold stationary and typewriters
