Growing R&E Networks

By Yuichi Kurokawa

Abstract

• While improving the connectivity among NRENs, Layer3 routings are becoming more and more complicated in accordance with the increase of routing paths. • As the result, unexpected routings and asymmetric routings are generated, which cause the difficulties in realizing the original aim of providing high-performance networks. • Since the international link among NRENs has become widely complicated, Global R&E routing design has became more important. But it is very difficult to understand all connectivities over the world. • To solve such a routing problem, NOC often puzzles over which routing path is optimum or not. Because there are policy factors besides technical issues in route selection.
