Hydro-electric turbine governor studies using a hybrid computer

This paper descibes the development of a hybrid computer simulation of a specific water pipeline system and one turbine (and associated alternator) connected to that pipeline. The objective of the work is associated with the development of improved governor systems to allow faster response to electrical disturbances on the supply network. Real-time simulation is an essential feature of the work and this led to the use of the hybrid simulation approach
