Henry F. Schricker

By Portrait by Randolph Coats (1952)

Abstract

During Henry F. Schricker’s second term a battle raged over making welfare records public which caused the federal government to deny welfare funds to the state. Indiana Senator Wm. Jennings Bryan amended an appropriations bill with a rider that provided no state could be deprived of federal funds for permitting access to welfare disbursements. Schricker left a surplus in the treasury but also left problems unaddressed. He is buried in Starke County.Use of this image is restricted to IHS reference purposes only. IHS may not reproduce.
