Gender and the labour market in South East England. Volume 1: the context

Abstract

This research was commissioned by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the European Social Fund (ESF). The objective is to identify good practice as well as barriers to women’s full contribution to the labour market in South East (SE) England. The research questions are:\ud • How does the labour market position of women in the SE region compare with that of men in the region and with that of women nationally?\ud • What policies and practices do employers in South East England adopt in respect of gender equality?\ud • What barriers do employers and women employees in South-East England identify in respect of gender and employment
