The formative evaluation as an educational improvement: An experience in the area of Natural Sciences

Abstract

Este trabajo presenta una experiencia cuya finalidad es lograr una mejora educativa a través del logro de aprendizajes significativos. Dicha propuesta, se ha llevado a cabo en el área de Ciencias Naturales, concretamente en un centro educativo de Segovia en 6º curso de Educación Primaria. Para ello, se ha aplicado una SEA a lo largo de tres sesiones y se ha empleado una evaluación formativa participativa durante todo el proceso de enseñanza- aprendizaje. Durante este proceso, los estudiantes han mantenido una participación activa durante la cual han podido reconstruir sus aprendizajes a partir de las intervenciones realizadas por sus compañeros o por el propio maestro. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que este modelo didáctico permite mejorar la participación de los estudiantes, la construcción de aprendizajes significativos y la capacidad de aprender de los propios errores. This proposal has been put into practice in the area of Natural Sciences, specifically in an educational center in Segovia (Spain) in 6th grade Elementary Education. To this end, an `Teaching- Learning Sequel´(SEA) has been applied during three sessions and an active formative evaluation has been used throughout the teaching-learning process. During this process, the students have maintained an active participation during which they have been able to reconstruct their learning from the interventions made by their classmates or by the teacher. The results show that this didactic model allow to improve the participation of the students, the construction of significant learning and the ability to learn from their own mistakes.
