Primitive Ideal Spaces, Characters, and Kirillov Theory for Discrete Nilpotent Groups

By Lawrence W. Baggett, Eberhard Kaniuth and William Moran

Abstract

AbstractThis paper is concerned with several topics in the harmonic analysis of discrete nilpotent groups. We study two topologies on the primitive ideal space and the space of characters, the separation of points in the former with the hull-kernel topology, a weak Frobenius reciprocity property and a Bochner theorem for traces on complete nilpotent groups
