Plant epigenetics: MEDEA's children take centre stage

By Daniel Schubert and Justin Goodrich

Abstract

AbstractThe Arabidopsis Polycomb group gene MEDEA is imprinted in early development and regulates cell proliferation in seeds. A recent study identifies the first direct target of MEDEA regulation. This is an important step towards the genetic manipulation of seed development, and should help clarify the role of Polycomb-group proteins in imprinting in plants
