Axel Honneth’s Antagonism: What Changes When the Mode of Acquiring Recognition Changes

By Estelle Ferrarese

Abstract

International audienceI believe it to be necessary to identify the properties attributed to struggle that could explain the central place it occupies in Honneth’s system. First, I will consider some hypotheses concerning the history of the concept in order to try to explain the prominence of struggle (1). Then I will examine the effects that the two struggling parties have on each other (2), before considering the effects attributed to struggle in the world in which it emerges (3)
