International Conference on Competitive Manufacturing Enterprise Integration Triangle – a Framework for Innovating Complex Systems in the Manufacturing and Service Industries

The design, planning and control of complex integrated solutions are seen as a key capability of the competitiveness of companies in the future. The integration of complex value systems will be the leading paradigm for future design and key element of learning and innovation processes in the dynamically changing manufacturing and service industries. To meet with this challenges entirely new perspectives and ways of researching and the integrated designing of complex, highly interdependent value delivery systems will be required. Currently dominating single perspective and static frameworks and research methods fall short in this perspective. The purpose of this paper is to propose the theoretically basis to cope with the paradigm shift towards the creation of value-added systems in a fully integrated system design. First, the multi-perspective framework is proposed and explained in detail. The framework integrates 1. the perspective of technologies, 2. organisational and planning systems and 3. value delivery processes. It allows the evolutionary adaptation of configurations over time.
