Doing It: A Process to Screen, Design, Implement, and Evaluate Industrial Eco-Efficiency Projects

Abstract

Eco-Efficiency is a term to describe productivity enhancements achieved by improving resource efficiency, preventing pollution, and incorporating environmental considerations into product design. As such, Eco-Efficiency projects endeavor to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and processes, and minimize the waste of all resources, including labor and raw materials. Barrier to Eco-Efficiency projects may be technical, organizational, informational, and financial. A structured process which guides implementers as they plan and manage Eco-Efficiency projects can address some of these barriers. This paper elaborates on a process designed by the authors, and discusses examples of its application to a variety of projects
