Brillouin scattering in neopentane


Brillouin scattering experiments have been performed in the liquid phase of neopentane near the liquid-plastic crystal transition. The spectra are well represented by a sum of three lorentzians. No evidence was found for the possible existence of an additional central peak corresponding to a thermal relaxation mode.
