TRANSFORMATION OF CITY EDGE IN CORELATION WITH POHORJE

Abstract

Naloga je izdelana v dveh delih. Prvi del naloge seznani bralca z glavnimi vidiki načrtovanja mest. Drugi del ilustrira merila določena v prvem delu naloge. This work is divided into two parts. Part one introduces the reader to main aspects of city-planning. It also includes systematic attempts to achieve diversity and introduction of theory and practice. We are discovering the edge of the city and looking for a good image of the city, and that requires to explore the whole cities and their development during the centuries. Key characteristics of the edge of the city are founded in each city, and they depends on period of building, culture, location, topographics... We are also exploring the way and the speed of city development, geographically and physical features which are preventing a city from expanding outward (valleys, mountains, water). Somewhere, urban structures are treated as independent from nature. So we have cities as natural systems, cities as victims of the Industrial Revolution and cities as integral parts of nature. So, while exploring cities as entirety, we are understanding the pertinence of the edge of the city. After theory, we will show analysis of some European cities as examples of recognizably image of the city and different ways of inference the city. Part two illustrates the criteria developed in the first part of work. This will help understand practical questions about planning on the egde of the city. That includes project of the sustainable multy-family housing at the edge of the city
