Fewer New Cases Of Influenza Reported

• Friday the 13th shows a favorable record of cases reported• Meeting held with Chamber of Commerce and Manufacturers’ Association, and Lawther and other city officials, at which recommendations were made, including asking the Mayor to issue the official bulletin each morning certifying the number of deaths and cases from the previous day• The Board of Health have regular and frequent meetings• Additional sanitary inspectors to be hired, as it’s impossible to survey all buildings and plants in city as it is• Efforts will ramp up to cease the practice of shared drinking cups and towels• Lawther says that although he did not think it wise to impose more duties on physicians, he was overruled, and that physicians who do not continue reporting will be arrested and fined• “In my judgment, no city was ever blessed with more capable and self-sacrificing physicians and nurses than is Dallas. They have stemmed the tide many times in the past, when epidemics swept our city and they will in this case. Let our people use all precautionary measures, face the situation with brave hearts and not become alarmed remembering that thought the death rate ahs been high, 90 per cent of those afflicted have recovered.”Newspaper article1
