A study of maintenance technology implementation

Abstract

The benefits and impact of new manufacturing technology have been documented extensively in the literature. Management of the maintenance function is receiving more attention in the trade journals, but limited studies have been published in the academic literature. This study (following the general approach adopted by Meredith in an earlier paper) considers the implementation of the reliability-centred maintenance technology by identifying some generally accepted 'postulates' taken from the literature and analysing these in terms of six cases. Some postulates are accepted, while others provide scope for further consideration. Analysis of postulates comparable with those of Meredith show that all but one corroborate his findings. The study concludes with the identification of some key success factors.maintenance technology implementation case study
