Examination Rivers’ Recreational Potantial As An Urban Coastal Space: Case Study, Eskisehir Porsuk Creek And Istanbul Kurbagalidere

Abstract

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2007Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2007Bu çalışmada, kentsel kıyı mekanı olarak akarsular ve bu alanların rekreasyonel kullanım potansiyeli irdelenmiştir. Akarsular sahip oldukları mekansal süreklilik yapısı ve kentsel sürdürülebilirliğe katkısı bağlamında değerlendirilerek, en uygun akarsu kıyı kullanımının öncelikli sırada rekreasyonel kullanımlar olması gerektiği ortaya konulmuş, bu alanların kentlinin rekreasyonel ihtiyacını karşılayabileceği doğal ve ekolojik tampon bölgeler olduğu belirtilmiştir. Akarsu kıyılarının rekreasyonel düzenleme ilkeleri genel planlama esasları, fonksiyon alanları ve donatı elemanları bağlamında açıklanmıştır. Bu noktaya kadar anlatılan bilgiler dünyadan çeşitli konum, büyüklük ve amaçlardaki rekreasyonel kullanımı olan akarsu ve kıyısı düzenleme proje örnekleri ile pekiştirilmiş, örnek alan çözümlemesine yön gösterilmiştir. Örneklem bölümünde, anket yöntemi kullanıllarak iki araştırma alanı ele alınmıştır. Islah ve çevre düzenleme projesi ile iyileştirilmiş birinci alan (Porsuk Çayı), düzenleme çalışmalarına ihtiyaç duyan alanlara ışık tutacak önemli bir örnektir. Bu alanda yapılan anket çalışması ile projenin kente, kentliye genel ve rekreasyonel yönde sunduğu olumlu durum gözlenmiştir. Anketin değerlendirilmesi ve litaretür çalışmaları ışığında, önceki yıllarda ıslah edilmiş ikinci araştırma alanına (Kurbağalıdere) yetersiz ve kopuk çevre düzenlenmesi nedeniyle akarsu kıyısı rekreasyonel planlama ve düzenleme önerileri getirilmiştir.The main aim of this study is to assess rivers as an urban coastal space and examination of their recreational potantial. In this study, rivers are evaluated in terms of their spatial continuity and their contribution to urban sustainability. This study purpoces that the recreational usage must be the most important criteria in term of evaluation of rivers contrubition to the urban spatial structure. It is indicated that these areas are valuable for their characteristics as natural and ecological buffer zone which can be considered as a potantial for the recreational requirements of citizens. Riverfronts’ recreational design principles are explained within the context of general planning criterias, function areas and urban furnitures. In addition to these theorical informations about the issue, the project areas from all over the world, which have different sizes, locations, contexts and types of recreational usage, take into consideration in terms of design criterias of rivers and its coastal areas. In case study, two research areas are discussed by using questionnaire method. First area (Porsuk Creek), which was regerenated by rehabilitation and environmental design project , is a important sample to throw a light on areas which needs some rehabilitation and environmental design works. By this questionnaire study, the pozitive effects of the protect on the city and citizens in term of general and recreational aspects are observed. In the light of examining questionnaire and study of literature, riverfront recreational planning and designning suggestions are offered to the second research area (Kurbağalıdere) which has a insuficient and discontinuous environmental design.Yüksek LisansM.Sc
