Investigation of OId Building Concrete (II)

Abstract

The second investigation of the old building concrete was carried out. The age of the building was 6 years and its concrete surface had been exposed in the air. The main results obtained on the properties of the concrete were as follows; 1) The depth of alkali-lost in concrete were found to be 3.8 mm. in the outside of the building and 4.8 mm. in the inside of the storage. And the value at the garage (inside) was as high as 7.64 mm. 2) The mean value of the compressive, tensile and bond strength were 336kg/㎠, 26.5kg/㎠ and 62kg/㎠ respectively. Young's modulus was calculated as 2.73 ・10^5kg/㎠. 3) The compressive strength estimated from Schmidt rebound number was very high in comparison with the value found in direct compression tests of prism pspecimens
