Resource efficient car body manufacturing

By Reimund Neugebauer and Anett Rennau

The awareness of climate change and the limited availability of resources also put resource input for car body production to the test. But since the percentage of costs for raw material compared to the total production cost of products is well above the cost of labor, new, resource-efficiency-related factors will have influence on the competitive success of a company on the market in addition to the factors already existing. Strategies and solution approaches, which lead to an increased effectiveness of the resource input, are for example measurements to improve process stability, the application of efficiency technologies, the use of efficient manufacturing facilities or the optimization of process chains by process integration and - combination. Examples are - a global analysis and monitoring of the process chains in terms of resource usage, - the application of innovative production technologies, - the use of innovative lightweight concepts for equipment, - tool design according to function and stres

Topics: resource efficiency, energy balancing, process monitoring, press hardening, lightweight design
