Creation or destruction of the perspective of EVA® value in the Exame Magazine ranking of largest companies

DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-8077.2012v14n34p103Objetivou-se verificar o comportamento das maiores empresas brasileiras em vendas, com atuação nas regiões Norte/Nordeste, Centro-Oeste, Sudeste e Sul, listadas na revista Exame Melhores e Maiores, a partir da perspectiva de criação ou destruição de valor doEVA®. Analisaram-se 316 empresas com o auxílio da estatística descritiva e da Análise de Correspondência para verificar a associação entre as empresas que mais criam valor (EVA®) e as regiões brasileiras e os setores de atuação. Constatou-se que 217 empresas criaram valor enquanto 99 destruíram valor. Os resultados dos testes apontaram que a região Centro-Oeste e os setoresatacado e varejo estão associados a uma alta criação de valor, não confirmando a primeira e a segunda hipóteses de pesquisa. Os resultados apontaram ainda que apenas 5 empresas mantiveram-se nas mesmas posições ao se comparar o ranking da revista Examecom aquele elaborado pela perspectiva EVA®, não se confirmando a terceira hipótese de pesquisa.This study aimed to verify the behavior of the largest Brazilian companies in sales, with operations in the North / Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and South, listed in the magazine “Exame Melhores e Maiores”, from the perspective of value creation or destruction of the EVA ®. 316 companies were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Correspondence Analysis to determine theassociation between the companies that create value (EVA®) with the Brazilian regions and sectors. It was found that 217 companies have created value while 99 destroyed value. Test results showed that the Midwest and the wholesale and retail sectors are associated with a high value creation, not confirming the first and second research hypotheses. The results also indicated that only 5 companies remained in the same positions when comparing the ranking of the magazine Exame with that prepared by EVA® perspective, not confirming the third research hypothesis
