By Ana Luiza Baesso and Isabel Cruz

Abstract

The present article discuss the problem of the cross infection that reach the pressure ulcers (PU) in the Intensive-care Unit, causing sepsis and possibly taking the patient to death. Its main objectives was to identify the national and international scientific productions in the nursing area that puts in evidence the possible ways of the PU infection, providing a differentiated glance to the nursing professionals on the bed of the PU, which can prevent its contamination. This study is a systematic revision of a computerized literature, with qualitative approach and descriptive character. The principal way of driving the cross infection for the bed of the UP was identified as the contaminated hands of the professionals who touch the patient. It was also noticed that, how much more knowledge and updating the nurse acquires about the studied subject, better will be his presence and, besides it, he will be able to offer continued formation for his team. This study tries to offer a reflection about the association of some basic principles, like the washing of the hands and the recognition of the particular characteristics of a PU, as well as the beginning of an infection in this wound
