This thesis is dealing with the relationship between temperament and satisfaction of mothers staying on maternity and parental leave. In the theoretical part there are summarized basic knowledge about maternity, temperament (especially child temperament) and life satisfaction. In the empiric part there was studied if the child temperament is connected with the mother's life satisfaction. Next issues to follow were the relationships between temperament and general psychological situation or perceived parental competence. A quantitative research was taken with women on maternity and parental leave. The Questionnaire of life satisfaction, considering scale SUPOS 7 PC, Parenting Sense of Competence Scale, Infant Behavior Questionnaire-Revised and Early Childhood Behavior Questionnaire were used to collect the data. Eight major and complementary hypotheses were defined; a discussion deals with their results and possible limits of the research
