Thermodynamics of jet engines

Abstract

This research introduces the reader to a brief analysis of various types of aircraft engines, with particular focus upon jet engines. Amongst the types of jet engines which will be covered are turboprop, turbojet, turbofan, ramjet, propfan, & the pulse engine. This body of work investigates the construction, operation and characteristics of these engines, including a analysis of their thermodynamic working cycle & the power of thrust produced. The main objective is to achieve a full comparison of the different kinds of engines using variables such as efficiency, fuel consumption and emission production
