MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF POTENTIAL BIO CONTROL AGENTS USING RAPD

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Groundnut crop is effected by many pathogens among them Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc  is  leading  to  be  a  major  loss  of  the  crop  yield.  So,  the  present investigation was undertaken  to identify potential bio control  agents.  Among them 14 bacterial isolates were screened for RAPD analysis. 40 random primers were screened viz.,(OPA-1 to 20 and OPC 1- to OPC-20) & amplified.  A  total  of  2013  bands  were  yielded  of  which  1667  where polymorphic  and  346  where  monomorphic.  The  Un  weighted  Pair-Group Method using Averages (UPGMA) analysis of the data obtained as a result of RAPD divided the isolates into two major clusters showing a considerable level of genetic diversity ranged between 0.48 to 0.91.
