Oscar Robertson Kisses the IHSAA State Basketball Championship Trophy

By William Palmer

Abstract

Attucks won the city and state championships in 1955 and had an undefeated season the following year. Oscar Robertson, the team’s leader, went on to play for the University of Cincinnati followed by a stellar career in the National Basketball Association, where he played with the Cincinnati Royals and the Milwaukee Bucks. Some of the other Attucks players had professional careers with regional teams. Here, behind Robertson, team members admire their championship rings. The crowd at Hinkle Fieldhouse was reported to be 14,943
