Abstract

Oscar Robertson attended Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis and was known as the "Big O." He was a member of the first African American high school team to win the state championship. They won two years in a row, 1955 and 1956. He went on to play at the University of Cincinnati, and was on the gold medal-winning team in the 1960 Olympics. He played as a pro for the Cincinnati Royals and the Milwaukee Bucks.Oscar Robertson is on the right side of the picture. Tennis player Arthur Ashe is in the middle and Lerone Bennett, senior editor of Ebony Magazine, is on the left. The three men were attending the 75th anniversary meeting of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity
