Greenville, General Court Martial

Document reports the results of the general court-martial of Moses Biddle, a soldier in the 1st Sub Legion, for firing a load musket from which a bullet struck and killed Sergeant Wilkins, 1st Sub Legion. The court, of which Captain Hamilton Armstrong presided, found Biddle guilty and sentenced him to 100 lashes. In a postscript, John Mills, Adjutant General, commands that the members of the court be included in the guard detail which will provide the punishment.Contemporary copy
