By Martin's Photo Shop

Abstract

Photograph of the West Clinton Coal Company. Visible are a couple of the buildings as well as the coal hoppers. A track lays in the foreground leading to the buildings. Many Italians came to Indiana to work in industries such as coal, steel and oil. Clinton, in Vermillion County, attracted a large percentage of Italian immigrants to work in the nearby mines. This rural community continues to celebrate its Italian heritage. This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative
