Abstract

1 map : col. ; 85 x 62 cm.The name “Indiana” means “Land of the Indians” and was named for the state’s first inhabitants. This 1881 map by Charles C. Royce shows the parcels of land that were acquired through treaties with Native Americans. Use the booklet of the same title to interpret the map. Land cessions are drawn on the map and given a number. Using that number check the booklet for description of that land area and date of the treaty
