Reuben Phillips, 17th Indiana Volunteers, Company C

Phillips wears a Union military uniform. Written in ink at the bottom of the photograph is "Reuben Phillips/ Co "C" 17th Ind Vols." On the reverse side, printed in black at the top is a drawing of a man in a hat with a long beard, who is looking to the side. Below this is printed in black "From/ J.C. Elrod's/ Gallery/ 409 Main St./ Louisville/ Plain & Painted Photographs." Written across the long edge in blue ink is "Friend of Lt. Jos. Sutton/ U.S. Civil War."1860s (1860-1869)Louisville (Ky.)600ppiCivil War Military FrontDC046This Civil War Military Front collection was funded by LSTA. The notation "Friend of Lt. Jos. Sutton U.S. Civil War" on back of carte-de-visite appears to have been added by someone other than Sutton at a much latter time
