Abstract

Kirkpatrick writes to his sister while serving in the 17th in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and tells of his activities including marching and going to Nashville for supplies.William D. Kirkpatrick (ca. 1833–1893) was born and lived in southwestern Indiana. He enlisted in Company H of the 17th Indiana Regiment in June 1861 and was promoted to sergeant and later to second lieutenant. He was mustered out in Georgia in August 1865
